Stainless steel is used where corrosion resistance, strength, clean appearance, or service environment matters. Grade selection changes machining behavior and end use, so buyers should state the exact grade instead of requesting only stainless steel.

Grade selection

303, 304, and 316 serve different machining and corrosion requirements. The drawing or specification should identify the approved grade.

Feature risks

Deep holes, thin walls, small threads, sharp internal corners, and broad cosmetic faces deserve early review.

Finish and inspection

Passivation, polishing, brushing, machined finish, critical dimensions, and visual acceptance should be defined in the RFQ.

Is 304 interchangeable with 316?
